Most of us read about the disasters going on in the world. Not a lot of us know how to help. Some of us wish we did. If you‘re one of those people, and uncertain where to start on a path that makes a difference, then you need to know about the Arête Fellowship.
The Arête Fellowship is a 6-week discussion programme. Specifically designed in response to the question of: how we can tackle the world’s most pressing issues?

Inspired by programmes at top institutions, such as, Oxford, Harvard and Stanford, the fellowship allows open discussion about how we can have a positive impact in the world. This is especially relevant as we think about our careers and our futures - what do we want our world to look like?
Fellows will engage in weekly readings and small-group discussions about ideas central to Effective Alturism. Topics include philosophy, existential risks of artificial intelligence and biosecurity, and the moral consideration of non-human beings and future generations. Not only will fellows join our university community of ambitious and altruistic students, but also a global network of professionals in impactful careers.
If you are interested, please apply here by Wednesday 24th September, and join us at our introductory talk on Monday 22nd September at School 1, St Salvator’s Quad, or email us at easoc@st-andrews.ac.uk .
