Rivalry Victory for Women’s Lacrosse: 17-6 Over Glasgow

Meredith Kovarovic

Spirits were high on the pitch at the St Andrews sports center on Wednesday when the St Andrews Women’s Lacrosse First Team played the University of Glasgow in a friendly match. The Saints breezed by with an exciting win of 17-6. I spoke with Captain Lizzie Rosenman post-game to get her thoughts.

How do you think the game went?

I think the game went very well. It’s our first game of the season, we’ve only had two practices, and most of the team is young and new. So, it looked great. Last year, we played Glasgow and tied them 8-8, so this was a huge win. We all had great chemistry too.

What are your goals for the season?

We’re excited to play these new teams because we got brought up from the Scottish league to the Premier league and will play a lot of English teams, like Nottingham, Liverpool, and Manchester. So, the goal is just to play very well in this new league.

Who are your rivals?

Usually, it’s Glasgow in the Scottish league, but because we’re in the Premier league now, I would say Durham because we played them last year as well.

What is your favorite lacrosse tradition?

After Friday trainings, we would always go to Brew Co, and that’s definitely my favorite tradition.

Best of luck to the Saints on the rest of the season and as they play Newcastle at home next week. Go Saints!
